Let’s just agree to be honest with each other, shall we?
- Men being allowed to go into women’s bathrooms is a HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, idea on any planet, under any circumstance, EVER.
- The life of one human child is worth the life of every gorilla ever born.
- All human lives, quadriplegic or not, mentally competent or not, have equal value. Suicide, chosen or not, legal or not, is MURDER. To couch the idea of euthanasia inside of a trendy romance novel and call it is beautiful is SICK.
Let’s continue to be honest. The fact that any of the above points are being debated on a wide spread level as if they were serious arguments with valid points on either side of the dispute is PURE INSANITY, and demonstrates that we live in a society that has completely lost its grip on a reality.
The foolish thing to do would be to assume that America’s biggest issues are what we find trending on Facebook, and that our society can be fixed if we merely win the war of words on gender identity and animal rights.
These problems are merely symptomatic of a MUCH DEEPER ILLNESS, namely Godlessness. To be more specific, we as a society as suffering from a serious case of “Christlessness.”
It’s a simple case of cause and effect. Our nation’s founders were emphatic that the free society which they created could not function without a virtuous people.
Virtue and morality cannot happen without Christ because people are by nature corrupt.
To suggest that a virtuous society can continue to exist without sincere, active Christians comprising its core is a sort of “anti-Gospel.”
The reason we are in this mess to begin with is because for decades, American Christians have felt safe with, and have been content to live in a nation that embraced “Christian values,” rather than a nation of individuals who have embraced vibrant relationships with Christ Himself.
We don’t fix this problem by convincing people that little boys are more valuable than apes, we fix this problem by convincing people that we serve a God who is REAL, who is beautiful, and who is worth loving.
I don’t want to get to Heaven and find that all I have to say for myself is, “Well, I stopped a whole bunch of people from going to Target because of their bathroom policy. Aren’t You proud?”
I want to get to Heaven and be able to say, “I helped stop a lot of people from going to hell because I told them about YOU.”
We will find national healing if and only if we live lives that point people to the unapologetic truth that Jesus Christ is the King of the universe.
I am not saying that there is no place for these sorts of “hot topic” discussions. Outright evil MUST be challenged. I am saying that if these debates do not serve as gateway discussions for deeper, Jesus, discussions, then really, what’s the point?
I’m tired of engaging in debates where there’s no real winner. When one side of an argument emerges feeling smarter than the other, both leave angry, and no one has seen Jesus, everyone loses.
I want to be less about having philosophical discussions, and more about having Gospel discussions. I want to be more about disciple making than I about converting people to my viewpoint.
If you want to sit and chat about bathrooms, let’s do it! But my reasoning will be, “because Jesus,” every time.
I am NOT afraid to offend people. I am afraid of offending them for the wrong reasons. If I go down in a blaze of fire, so be it…but let it be because of Jesus, not because of Harambe the western, lowland gorilla.
